On August 5, 2013, TEI submitted three recommendations for consideration by the Canadian government in connection with its annual Pre-Budget Consultations. The recommendations were submitted to the House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance through its web-based template form.
TEI's recommendations were prepared under the joint aegis of its Canadian Income and Commodity Tax Committees, whose chairs are Bonnie Dawe of Finning International, Inc. and Robert J. Smith of McKesson Canada, respectively. The recommendations were coordinated by Jeffery P. Rasmussen and Daniel B. De Jong as the legal staff liaisons to the respective committees. In prior years, the Institute has been invited to participate in Pre-Budget Consultation hearings to expand on its written recommendations.
